About Sand Dollar Dachshunds
Sand Dollar Dachshunds is a small scale miniature dachshund breeding program. We are based in Galt, California, USA. Our main goals with breeding are to breed show and sport quality AKC & UKC registered miniature dachshunds that can live long, healthy lives with their families. Fun colors and coat lengths will be included in our goals, but will stay second to quality conformation and proper health testing.
We are a bred with H.E.A.R.T. breeder, which means we certify that we have completed recommended health testing for our breed, we study AKC-provided or AKC-approved continuing breeder education so that we stay educated on the best breeding practices, we agree to comply with the AKC Care and Conditions Policy, including inspections by the AKC, and promising to share health testing and continuing education documentation with AKC, we accept responsibility for the health and well-being of the puppies we produce and comply with all laws regarding the ownership and maintenance of dogs, and we agree to upholding the AKC’s tradition of breeding purebred dogs that are happy and healthy.
Registered Veterinary Technician, Photographer, Breeder, Owner
Hello, my name is Riki Herrera. I have owned dachshunds since I can remember, and have a passion for the breed. My "OG ween" is in the photo to the left, by my side, a dapple standard dachshund named "Grub". Breeding dachshunds means a lot to me, and I enjoy showing my dachshunds as well.
I am a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), with a history of working in Equine, Small Animal General Practice, and Small Animal Emergency.
In my free time, I can be found at the barn! I have a young chestnut, Oldenburg filly named Rou. Her registered name is "Arsenic d' Avalon", (Apiro x Morticia/ Mannhattan/ Frohwind). She is GOV registered and I am excited for our future in the jumper ring.
I am also very passionate about photography. Examples of my work and pricing can be seen on my other website, available by clicking the button below.
If you're curious as to what my gadgets are (attached to my arm and stomach in the photo where I am holding my camera), those are my type 1 diabetes management tools. The one on my arm is a Dexcom G6 continuous glucose monitor, and the tubing coming out of my pocket leads to my Tandem Diabetes t:slim X2 insulin pump. More information on those can be found via buttons below.
